A Canton woman was critically injured Wednesday afternoon when she crashed her SUV into rocks and rolled the vehicle.
The 52-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Subaru Forester west on Route 219, also known as Bear Pond Road, in Hartford about 4:40 p.m. when she left the road, hit large rocks and then rolled, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was ejected in the crash.
A passer-by stopped to help her passenger, a 65-year-old Canton woman, from the wreck before it caught fire, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she was being treated for life-threatening injuries, while her passenger was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries.
