BELFAST — Belfast Flying Shoes invites the public to a special outdoor Community Contra Dance on the Armistice Footbridge Tuesday, June 16. Featuring live music by the BFS All Comers Band and dance calling by Chrissy Fowler, this event celebrates the return of a beloved summer tradition.

This unique program offers an evening of music, movement and connection against the backdrop of sunset over the water. Dancers and musicians will gather on the Armistice Footbridge, suspended above the Passagassawakeag River as it flows into Belfast Bay.

Presented in partnership with Belfast Parks & Recreation and the City of Belfast, the Flying Shoes event welcomes participants of all ages and experience levels. Chrissy Fowler guides the dancers, making it easy and fun for everyone to join in, while the BFS All Comers Band provides lively traditional music.

Musicians warm up at 6 p.m. and the dance starts at 6:30 p.m., continuing into the evening.  The public can use city parking on the west side and walk across the bridge to the dancing. Admission is free! Free will donations support Belfast Flying Shoes programs, including this special outdoor dance.
