A man allegedly hit and kicked a child Thursday morning during drop off outside a Bangor school.

John Davis, 76, of Bangor has been charged with domestic violence assault, according to Katy England, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.

Davis allegedly hit and kicked the student while dropping them off at a school on Moosehead Boulevard, which is where the Downeast School is located. Officials did not confirm the school where the alleged assault happened.

School officials turned over video to police that reportedly showed Davis assaulting the student.

He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
