The fire that destroyed a Stockton Springs home Sunday was likely arson.

The blaze broke out about 9:30 a.m. at the Cross Lane home, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered the home fully engulfed in flames, Moss said Monday morning.

The home didn’t have active electrical service at the time of the fire.

Investigators determined the fire was “incendiary in nature,” Moss said.
