Planet Fitness is set to open a new location at the Ellsworth strip mall that houses Hannaford and TJ Maxx.

The inexpensive, 24-hour gym franchise will join another all-hours gym, Queen City Athletics, in the Maine Coast Mall.

Planet Fitness is expected to be in a storefront between Queen City Athletics and Label Shopper — which announced on Tuesday morning that it will close on July 9.

In addition to standard cardio and strength equipment, the site will host group fitness classes led by certified trainers and carry massage chairs for Black Card Spa members, according to a page for the new location on its  website, which is now offering members pre-registration. The website lists Ellsworth’s location as “coming soon.”

It was not immediately clear when the gym will open. There were no Planet Fitness signs visible at the mall on Tuesday afternoon.

Planet Fitness did not immediately respond to an inquiry from the Bangor Daily News.

Ellsworth will be the chain’s 14th club in Maine and its easternmost in the United States. Planet Fitness, which brands itself as a “judgement free zone,” has more than 2,900 gyms across six countries. The franchise’s estimated net worth falls around $4.1 billion, according to Macrotrends, an investor research platform.

A classic membership at Bangor’s Planet Fitness location costs $15 per month, without taxes and fees.

Queen City Athletics offers tiers of membership. Among other options, a recurring monthly membership costs $60 and a daily adult pass is $20, according to its website.
