After a beautiful vacation week of sea and sunshine, it was a shock to return to the reality of 2026 America. Reading the news again was a stark reminder of the truths it’s so easy to set aside:
Our federal government seem to have a deliberate goal of throwing out democracy and replacing it with a theocratic dictatorship
We’ve allowed concentration camps and huge numbers of arrests and deportations, even murders, on the flimsiest of excuses, based on color.
Our voting rights are in jeopardy as the administration seeks ways to disrupt or neutralize the midterm elections.
Nonsense like renaming bodies of water distract us from the elephant in the room: the slow but steady rise of tyranny, ignored or abetted by a complicit Supreme Court and the seemingly spineless Republican majority in Congress.
I believe the America we grew up with is in danger of extinction. I think our best chance to save it is to vote Democratic in November. Please do everything you can to encourage a big blue turnout. Our fate hangs in the balance.
