Three candidates, including an incumbent, are running unopposed for seats on the Caribou City Council this fall.
Sitting Councilor Tamara Lovewell is bidding for a second three-year term. She will be joined on the ballot by Jeff Whitney and George LaCasse Jr, who each qualified by returning nomination papers by the Sept. 4 deadline.
Caribou’s seven council members are elected at large by city voters.
Whitney and LaCasse Jr. are running to fill seats vacated by Mayor Courtney Boma and Councilor Jennifer Kelley, who are not running for reelection.

A race for two open spots on the RSU 39 School Board promises to be more competitive. Three candidates — Dale Gordon, Christina Peterson and Melissa Swanberg — are vying for the seats.
Gordon is a former board chairwoman who spent 16 years on the board beginning in the early 2000s.
Peterson, who works for a global media company and said last year that she has several children in the district, will appear on the ballot for the second straight year after finishing fourth in a four-person race in 2025.
Swanberg is a political newcomer.
In a third race, Tiffany Stewart is running unopposed for a seat on the Jefferson Cary Memorial Hospital Fund.
