I just got my first home heating oil bill of the season at $6.38 per gallon, more than twice the $3.18 of a year ago, adding to our inflated prices of diesel, gas, groceries and more. I’m not happy about this and I’m sure no one else in Maine is either.

We citizens of Maine are hurting and I think nothing but a big overhaul in Congress will be able to change this in the next two years. I believe this overhaul needs to start here by electing a new senator for the State of Maine — Troy Jackson — and a new representative for the 2nd Congressional District — Matt Dunlap.

The problems we face are largely caused by the feckless policies and actions of our president and his meek majority of followers in both chambers of Congress who mostly bow to his every whim. The ill-conceived and endless war in Iran, outrageous tariffs and lost medical coverage and care are placing extreme burdens on all Mainers.

Our current senator Susan Collins votes nearly all the time in support of Trump. Paul LePage has spent most of his time in recent years in Florida and is the self-proclaimed Trump before Trump. I think they are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I believe Troy Jackson and Matt Dunlap are dedicated to improving the lives of Maine citizens, have proven themselves with decades of fine public service and have earned our votes.
