‘Art for Ukraine’
April 29 @ 10:00 am - April 30 @ 4:00 pmFree
Participation and excitement is building for “Art for Ukraine,” a sale of original artwork by Maine artists to benefit the Ukrainian people on April 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will take place in the Denny Conservation and Education Center at Round Top Farm, home of Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust in Damariscotta. We have space for more Maine artists. Register ASAP by emailing Sally Loughridge ASAP at firstname.lastname@example.org. The sale’s full proceeds will be sent directly to Doctors Without Borders and Save the Children charities.
Symbolizing the humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian people, a bronze sculpture of an embracing mother and child, by the late Cabot Lyford, will be included in the sale. “Throughout his life-long career, sculptor Cabot Lyford, a World War 2 veteran, maintained a commitment to social activism, often through his artistic imagery in support of humanitarian causes,” reflects his daughter musician Julia Lane. “Doctors Without Borders was a frequent beneficiary, and he would be glad to be included in this effort to provide relief for Ukraine. “
