Ten Bucks Theatre is closing the summer and welcoming the fall with a series of staged readings! Second Series, directed by Aimee Gerow, is a series of four distinct plays read by a diverse company of local actors. In coming back from the pandemic the series serves as a way for actors to return to their performing roots, sharing new, old, and topical plays with the public. Gerow says, ‘One thing I love about TBT is its willingness to try new things; experiment with production choices, and create new theatrical opportunities for patrons and performers.’ This exact series was supposed to premiere March 2020 and we’ve been waiting for the right time to bring them to the public. Join us!

All readings will take place at TBT’s Bangor Mall location at 1pm on their respective Sundays. The events are free and all are welcome; suggested donation is $10 a Sunday. Feel free to join for one or for all four! Ten Bucks is located in the Sears section of the Bangor Mall on the right hand side as you’re walking towards center court.

August 21st- Practice House by Rachael Carnes. 1933. Women receive training in home economics, “A tool of the utmost importance in building up forces which increase physical well-being of the population,” writes Albert Mann, Dean of the New York College of Agriculture. “And which makes for a reduction in the number of persons thrown back to the state for support by reason of physical, mental, or moral failure.” ~ New Play Exchange

August 28th- Casa Valentina by Harvey Fierstein. “Nestled in the Catskills—1962’s land of dirty dancing and Borscht Belt comedy—an inconspicuous bungalow colony catered to a very special clientele: heterosexual men who delighted in dressing and acting as women.” ~ Dramatists Play Service

September 4th- The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence by Madeleine George. “Four constant companions become one in this brilliantly witty, time-jumping, loving tribute (and cautionary tale) dedicated to the people—and machines—upon which we all depend.” ~ Concord Theatricals

September 11th- Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. “Cyrano de Bergerac, a nobleman serving in the French Army, is a brash, strong-willed man of many talents. In addition to being a remarkable duelist, he is a gifted, joyful poet and is also a musical artist. However, he has an obnoxiously large nose, which causes him to doubt himself.” ~ Wikipedia
