Zen Meditation: Drop-In Group 2022
November 23, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - November 25, 2022 @ 7:00 pm
Zen Meditation
Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 5, 2022
Registration is not required. Arrive a few minutes early to park and settle in.
The way of Zen is very simple: how one keeps one’s mind, moment after moment after moment. It is not a “tuning out” or “blissing out.” Instead, Zen encourages “tuning in” and realizing the miracle of being alive, right in this moment, whatever it holds.
Our weekly, drop-in practice features alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation and a short teaching. All levels of experience, including none, are welcome, and instruction is enthusiastically offered to beginners. Meditation cushions and chairs are provided.
Ours is the path of the Bodhisattva—one who practices for the benefit of all beings. Similarly, vaccinating against COVID protects not only oneself, but all beings as well. Therefore, you must be vaccinated to attend our practices, and be willing to wear a mask.
True Nature Zen Sangha offers our sessions in accordance with the Buddha’s practice of dana (generosity). Donations of any amount are received with gratitude.
About the instructor: Laura Bonyon Neal is an ordained Buddhist priest, authorized teacher in the Five Mountain Zen Order, and leader of the True Nature Zen Sangha, a welcoming community of practitioners who invite all to join their weekly meditation sessions. Whether teaching, meditating, cooking, gardening, or drawing at ArtWaves, Laura holds Zen’s great question “What Is This?” at the forefront in order to keep her mind moment after moment after moment. And she really likes cats.
