The Bangor Daily News and SportsNet Maine are pleased to be partnering for live broadcasts of Maine high school basketball games on the BDN website. The doubleheader broadcast on Thursday, Feb. 7, sending Mt. Blue of Farmington to Brewer High School has been postponed.
In the boys game, coach Ben Goodwin’s Brewer squad has an opportunity to earn a spot in the regional quarterfinals, but must beat the Cougars in this game. The Witches go into the matchup with an 8-9 record and occupy ninth place in the Heal Point standings.
Brewer must win and get a little help in other games to overtake either No. 8 Skowhegan (7-10) or seventh-seeded Medomak Valley of Waldoboro (12-5), both of which also play on Thursday night.
Mt. Blue has secured a tourney berth as coach Travis Magnusson’s Cougars are 11-6 and occupy third place in Class A North. Mt. Blue won the first meeting with the Witches, taking a 75-61 decision back on Dec. 11.
In the girls game, both teams will be closing out their respective seasons. Brewer is the No. 10 seed with a 5-12 record, while Mt. Blue is seeded ninth at 7-10.
