BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine (AP) — The body of a Boothbay Harbor boat captain who was seen on a video surveillance tape falling into the water has been recovered.

The Maine Marine Patrol worked with an underwater robot to find the body of 29-year-old Shane Ferrante at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

The Boothbay Harbor Police Department says Ferrante, known to friends as Shaggy, was reported missing Wednesday by friends who were concerned that he hadn’ t been seen or heard from. Police reviewed surveillance video and saw him falling off a pier at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday.

Police tell WGME-TV that the death is not considered suspicious and that investigators do suspect alcohol may have played a role.
