BREWER, Maine&nbsp- Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Bruce Herbert, 32, who has six outstanding warrants.

Herbert was spotted by police a week ago but got out of the car he was riding in and ran before the officer could get turned around. He then escaped out the back door of a home on Monday when his roommate was being arrested on an unrelated charge, Sgt. Rich Smith of the Brewer Police Department said on Monday.

“Bruce has six warrants for his arrest for failure to extinguish a fire, violation of bail conditions, disorderly conduct, operating after suspension, theft and burglary,” Smith said.

His fines already total $3,670, the sergeant said.

Herbert, who is originally from Alton, is described as a white male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 170 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He also has a heart and the word “mom” tattooed on his left arm.

“He has quite a substantial scar on his forehead and is known to wear a hat or bandana,” Officer Peter Rancourt said Monday.

“This guy needs to be caught,” Smith said. “At this point he’ s obviously on the run and we’ re looking for help from anybody who knows where he is.”

Smith said Herbert isn’ t a danger, but added, “I don’ t know to what lengths he’ ll go to try to get away.”

Police believe he won’ t return to his Brewer apartment and may be on the streets looking for a place to stay.

Anyone with information concerning Herbert’ s whereabouts is urged to call the Brewer Police Department at 989-7003.
