JANE LOUISE DICKSON PEZZULLO BARRINGTON, R.I. – Jane L. Pezzullo, 62, the loving wife of Thomas M. Pezzullo and the mother of Jessica (Pezzullo) Fontes, passed away peacefully Aug. 14, 2008, in her home. Born in Bangor, Jane was the first daughter of the late Walter L. Dickson and Arlyne Dow Dickson. In addition to her husband of 34 years, Jane leaves behind her daughter, Jessica and husband, Jeffrey Fontes, of Barrington; her beloved granddaughters, Gracie Jane and Natalie Elizabeth; her brother, Richard Dickson and his wife, Karen; her sisters, Joan (Dickson) Hildreth and Jean Dickson; her special niece and nephew, Rebekah Moon Hildreth and Carle Hildreth; her aunt, Marion (Dickson) Shires; and several cousins. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Janie’s many friends and to the caregivers of Visiting Nurses, who provided strength and support to Jane and her family during her courageous and dignified battle with cancer. Jane was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She graduated from the University of Maine at Gorham in 1967 and received her master’s in education from Rhode Island College in 1986. Jane was a dedicated teacher at Primrose Hill School, Barrington, R.I., for 31 years. She was an active member of Holy Angels Parish. Jane was the former president of Holy Angel’s Women Guild, a member of Saint Vincent DePaul and a former Eucharistic minister at Holy Angels. She was an avid reader and a regular contributor to her book discussion group. Jane was a longtime downhill skier, swimmer and walker. Jane always looked forward to her time in Maine with her family, where she was known as “Janie.” While in Maine, Janie enjoyed hiking, kayaking and traveling with her sisters. Although she herself did not fish, Janie would accompany her sisters in the canoe while they fished at Daicey Pond, Baxter State Park. Janie’s greatest outdoor achievement was summiting Maine’s highest peak, Mount Katahdin, with her two sisters, Joan and Jean. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Aug. 18, at Holy Angels Parish with Father Ferrick officiating. Her dear friend, Father David, participated in serving Holy Communion. Donations may be made in Jane’s memory to Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol counties, Hospice, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
