BERNARD ‘BILL’ UNTERREINER, SHERMAN – The family of Bill Unterreiner are sad to announce his passing Aug. 25, 2008. Bill, son of Bernard and Margaret (Dougherty) Unterreiner, was born March 7, 1925, in Stamford, Conn. After high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Victory Medal for his service in World War II. He worked many years at Great Northern Paper, later became a rural mail carrier, and retired as a well-respected postmaster of Sherman Mills. Bill is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 61 years, Avis (Gallagher); 10 children, William, Marge and husband, Gary Colby, Walter, Stephen, Gary and his wife, Renee, Susan and husband, Jim Holland, Janice and husband, Eric Carr, Kathy and friend, Bill, Lori, and Vicky and friend, Peter; and a sister-in-law, Audrey and her four children. Bill was a proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Alfred. Family and friends are invited to call and share memories 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Molunkus Valley Snowdrifters, 58 North St., Sherman.
