LILLIAN EMMA STONE ESTY BANGOR – Lillian Emma Stone Esty, 94, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Dec. 19, 1913, in South Vassalboro, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Berry) Stone. She was a graduate of Cony High School, Class of 1931. She later attended the University of Maine, Orono and graduated from Colby College in 1936. Lillian was a longtime resident of Augusta, where she was employed by the State of Maine Adjutant General’s Office, for many years. Mrs. Esty belonged to many organizations and was a life member of Green Street United Methodist Church. She wintered in Florida many seasons after retirement. Her love of music and dancing earned her many blue ribbons in the dance communities and was not limited to ballroom and square dancing. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Richard B. Esty; and her sons, Larry R. Esty and Kenneth L. Esty. She is survived by her son, William F. Esty and his wife, Sally, of Bangor; daughter-in-law, Donna Esty of Skowhegan; granddaughters, Kimberly Burnham and her husband, Dale, of Windham, Sue Angell and her husband, William, of South Portland, Deborah Shirley and her husband, Ronald, of Pennsylvania, Heather Esty of Lewiston, Lisa Daniel and her husband, David, of Old Town and Ellen Esty of Westbrook; grandsons, Michael Esty and wife, Bonnie, of Gorham, Steve Esty and his wife, Robin, of Skowhegan and John Esty of New York City; along with nine great-grandchildren that she adored. Lillian so enjoyed her life in Augusta with fond memories of Avis Cripps and Fairlee Stone.
