AUBURN – Leroy Harrington went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 1, 2008. Leroy was born Nov. 20, 1924, the son of Mark and Alice Bunker Harrington. Leroy was a wonderful husband and father. He served in the Navy for three years in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He married Juanita Huckins in 1946 and was married for 56 years. Leroy was very active in church life, American Legion, Christian Civic League and local politics. He lived in Maine most of his life, except for 22 years in Connecticut. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Juanita Huckins; and sister, Thelma Smith. He is survived by his three children, Rodney Harrington and wife, Lucile, of Milbridge, Leroy Harrington Jr. of Spanaway, Wash., and Susan Hersom and husband, Myron, of Gray. Leroy will be lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren, Tristan Harrington and wife, Melinda, Mark B. Harrington and wife, Tiffany, Ian Harrington, James Dietrichsen, Mark R. Harrington, John Harrington, Abigail Hersom, Katherine Hersom and Andrew Hersom; and great-grandson, Collin Dietrichsen. He will be fondly remembered by a loving extended family. He also is survived by his brother, Russell Harrington of Bangor; and sister, Evelyn Dorr of Machias. The family expresses a special thanks to the staff at Clover Manor, Auburn, for their love and care, and also to the friends and family whose visits brightened his day. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Main Street, Milbridge. Services will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church, Cherryfield, with Pastor Darwin Vail officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Cherryfield.
