ORRINGTON – Marguerite Estelle (Bowden) Eckert, 74, died Sept. 10, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Orrington, the daughter of Ford and Nellie (Webster) Bowden. Marguerite attended Orrington schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1951. She was married to Philip B. Eckert Sept. 11, 1953, today they would have celebrated 55 years together. She retired from Eastern Maine Medical Center after 23 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Orrington; 50-year member of Vashti Rebekah Lodge No. 35 of Orrington; associate of Benton Goode-Sargent Chapter One of the Korean War Veterans; and an associate member of the Marine Corps League Greater Bangor Area Det. No. 1151. In addition to her husband of Orrington, she is survived by her children, Pamela and Andrew Frace of East Corinth, Larry Eckert of Orrington, Lori-Ann and Mel Garcia of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Tammi Lee (Eckert) Bowden of Bucksport; brothers, Wilfred E. “Bud” and Doris Bowden of Kenduskeag and Eugene W. and Esther Bowden of Bucksport; her grandchildren, Evan Frace and Rachel Jones, Nathan Frace and Tonda Wilson, Lucas and Mara Frace, Robert and Sam Louise Eckert, Samuel and wife, Ella Garcia, Benjamin and Alison Garcia, Mathew and wife, Crystal Bowden, Jesse and Daniel Bowden; great-grandchildren, Jacob Andrew, Sophie and Daisy, Taylor, Lilyanna, Leyna and Lacie; sister-in-law, Doris Clement of Biddeford; many nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ford W. Bowden and Nellie M. (Webster) Bowden; her brother, Leslie W. Bowden; and grandson, Brady Frace. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at First United Methodist Church, Orrington, with the Rev. Brenda Leclerc, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Dean Hill Cemetery, Orrington, immediately after the service.
