LEWISTON – Phyllis A. Messier, 79, passed away Sept. 10, 2008, at Montello Manor, Lewiston. She was born July 22, 1929, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Alexander and Mabel (Ladder) Warden. Phyllis resided in Lynn, Mass., for many years before moving to Old Town more than 30 years ago. She married Bernard in 1948 and he passed in 2002. She was a longtime member of Al-Anon. Phyllis enjoyed cross-country skiing, making quilts, flower arranging and spending time with her grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Donna Messier of Lewiston, Elaine Messier of China, Maine, and Carol Messier of Lewiston; son, Steven Messier of Florida; sisters, Shirley Wheeler-Hardwick of Salem, Ore., and Martha Mass and husband, Warren, of Ava Maria, Fla.; brothers, William Warden and wife, Dottie, of Massachusetts and Raymond Warden of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Joshua, Jenny, Brian and Lisa Messier; two great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; son, Michael Messier; and granddaughter, Kori Rogers. A memorial Mass will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Holy Family Parish Church, 262 Main St., Old Town. Burial will be afterward at Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 25 Tampa St., Lewiston.
