PHYLIS W. ROGERS – DOVER-FOXCROFT – Phylis Dyer (Washburn) Rogers, 95, wife of the late Harry E. Rogers, died Sept. 21, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Philip E. and Helen (Dyer) Washburn. She was a lifelong resident of Dover-Foxcroft. Mrs. Rogers graduated from Foxcroft Academy and then studied home economics at Higgins Classical Institute. She spent nearly all of her career at Koritsky’s Department Store, where she made many friends. She was a caring person who greeted practically every customer by name and asked after their family members as well. She enjoyed collecting antiques. After her retirement, she helped her sister, Margaret, with her booths at antique shows. She had a passion for making scrapbooks that documented happenings in her family, the town of Dover-Foxcroft and in the world at large. She belonged to the Eastern Star, Junior Cosmopolitan Club, Percolator Club and Lend-A-Hand Club. She was a member of the Universalist Church and Congregational Church, both of Dover-Foxcroft. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Washburn Flanders, currently a resident of Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft; her brother-in-law, Ardell Flanders, currently a resident of Main Street West, Dover-Foxcroft; her niece, Gale Flanders and nephew-in-law, Michael White, of Cambridge, Mass.; her niece, Kathy Flanders of Auburn, Ala.; her nephew, Jeffrey Stanley and niece-in-law, Cynthia Knapp Stanley, of York, Pa., and their children and grandchildren. The family would like to express sincere thanks to all of the special caregivers and friends who helped her these past few years, especially Toni Pinkham and Joyce Wilbur. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry E. Rogers; her father, Philip E. Washburn; her mother, Helen Dyer Washburn; her sister, Margaret Washburn Stanley Clark; brother-in-law, F. Davis Clark; her sister, Lois E. Washburn; her nephew, Philip Stanley; and her niece, Eileen M. Stanley. In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation or public graveside service.
