PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., and FORT KENT – Adelard Daigle, 88, died peacefully Dec. 13, 2007, at a hospital in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was born July 27, 1919, in New Canada Plantation, and lived in Fort Kent until his retirement to Florida in 1981. He owned and operated a service station on Main Street, Fort Kent, for most of those years. He served on the Fort Kent Town Council for a number of years and was a member of the Fort Kent Lions Club. He was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member, Assembly No. 0352, Fort Kent. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Brown’s Point and boating on the waters of Eagle Lake. Most of his leisure time in recent years was devoted to caring for his Boston Terriers, the last being Lucy Marie. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helene (Fradette) Daigle of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; his four children and their spouses, Madeline and Paul Plourde of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Ronald and Beatrice Daigle of Fort Kent, Brenda and Robert Daigle of Rockport and Jennie and Tim Hartt of Wallagrass; six grandchildren, Stephanie Morris, Jessica Lamarre, Pam Ault, Chuck Daigle, Bill Daigle and Justin Daigle; five great-grandchildren; a stepson, Claude Castonguay; and two sisters, Lorette Beaulieu and Claudette Hogan. He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Nellie (Michaud) Daigle; brothers, Neal, Levite and Conrad Daigle; and sisters, Sister Eva Daigle, Amelia Daigle and Valeda Chasse. Services will be announced and held in the spring at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, with burial at St. Louis Cemetery. Arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
