AGNES E. GANTNIER WOLCOTT, Conn. – Agnes Ellen Gantnier, 79, of Charles Drive, formerly of Benedicta, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Abbott Terrace. She was the wife of the late Felix Gantnier. Mrs. Gantnier was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Brewster, N.Y., daughter of the late Martin and Emma (Enzine) Durkin. She retired from Montgomery Ward with more than 25 years of service. She attended St. John Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing all sports and was the captain of her basketball team at Brewster High School. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, crocheting and sewing. She was a loving wife and mother, and was happiest with her home full of family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Roger Gantnier of Benedicta and Martin Gantnier of Wolcott, Conn.; two daughters, Sharon McDonald of Wolcott, Conn., with whom she made her home, and Renee Taylor of Southbury, Conn.; two sisters, Beatrice Elliott of New Port Richey, Fla. and Marie Gronke of Patterson, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Marc and Terri Gantnier, Monica Asencio, Sara Wheeler, Amanda Rush, Samantha Gantnier and Olivia McDonald; two sons-in-law, Michael McDonald and Montgomery Taylor; and two daughters-in-law, Donna Gantnier and Michelle Charbonneau. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Durkin. Friends and family may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott, Conn. A funeral service will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. John Episcopal Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
