HAMPDEN – Alan F. Fielding, 78, beloved husband of Cynthia L. (Tibbetts) Fielding, passed away peacefully Dec. 22, 2006, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital from complications with Alzheimer’s. Alan was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Portland, the son of Helen Shapleigh and Ralph Fielding. Alan and Cynthia were married March 11, 1950, and have had more than 56 happy years together. They have lived in Hampden, Winterport and at Green Lake. Alan was a truck driver and worked for many years at Cole’s Express and Pottle’s Transportation. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. Alan was a member of Mystic Masonic Lodge No. 65 and Star in the East OES No. 17, both of Hampden; Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, where he was a member of the photo-video unit until his health failed; the Sunshine Club for Children and the Holiday Ramblers of Maine. When his health would allow him, he enjoyed going to Florida in the winter and attending rallies. Alan is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Hampden; his daughter, Cathy Hardy and husband, David, of Orrington; his daughter, Sharon Fielding, of Hampden; his son, Alan Jr. of Newbury, Mass.; and his daughter, Susan Trenholm and husband, Jay, of Camden; his grandchildren, Todd Hardy and wife, Denise, of Winterport, Brent Hardy and wife, Carie, of Winterport, Carrie Smith and husband, Brandon, of Sebago, Tyler Whitehouse of New York City, Jay T. Trenholm II of Salt Lake City, Blake Trenholm of Orlando, Fla., and Chelsea Trenholm of Camden; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Logan and Brooke Hardy, all of Winterport. He is also survived by Deb Dumond, a very special daughter of Scarborough. Al-an’s family thanks the staff at Westgate Manor, the 5th floor intensive care unit, Palliative Care and Merritt 3 at Eastern Maine Medical Center for providing exceptional care and support during this difficult time. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hamp-den, where the officers and members of Mystic Masonic Lodge will conduct an evening memorial service 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hanson, pastor of Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church and the Rev. Dr. Deborah M. Jenks, pastor of the Hampden Congregational Church. A reception will be held immediately after the service at Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 44 Kennebec Road, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Alan’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406 or the Sunshine Club for Children, care of Anah Shrine Center, 586 Main St., P.O.
