WILLIAMSTOWN, N.Y., FORT FAIRFIELD, and WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Alan R. Hopkinson, 74, husband of Joanne D. Hopkinson, died Jan. 18, 2004, at Winter Haven Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 29, 1929, at Fort Fairfield, the son of Harold H. and Hazel (Reed) Hopkinson. He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1949. Alan was married to Joanne M. Durepo on Aug. 25, 1949. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of Anna Temple Shrine, Bangor, Media Temple Shrine, Watertown, N.Y., and past president of the Fort Fairfield Lions Club. Alan was a lifelong potato grower until he retired in 1996. He also owned and operated Hopkinson Sport Center. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ann Hopkinson Shaw; and one grandson, Trevor Hopkinson. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; three sons, Peter A. and his wife, Patti, of Sycamore, III., Jeffrey A. and his wife, Rhonda, of Williamstown, N.Y., and Reed A. of Winder, Ga.; one daughter, Susan A. Horning and her husband, Charlie, of Williamstown, N.Y.; one brother, Harold H. Hopkinson and his wife, Betty, of Manlius, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Roger L Durepo and his wife, Nancy, of Winter Haven, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial and graveside service will be conducted in the spring in Williamstown, N.Y.
