MILO – Alasco V. Carey Sr. passed away March 1, 2008, at home, after a courageous bat-tle with cancer. Alasco was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Milo, the eldest child of Arthur B. and Elsie (Stackpole) Carey. He graduated from Milo High School in 1939. Alasco enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, July 26, 1940. Alasco served in the Panama Canal Zone and the C.B.I. Theater. He was discharged from the 2nd Air Commando Group, 2nd Fighter Squadron as a staff sergeant in India, September 1945. Alasco retired from the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad and after retirement enjoyed working for local farmers. Alasco was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Maine Trappers Association and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 44. Alasco enjoyed all Penquis Valley High School sporting events, watching horse racing and trapping with his brother. Alasco is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elaine of Milo; son, Alasco Jr. and his wife, Sheryll, of Atkinson; grandson, Kenneth and his wife, Leanne, of Hampden; grandson, Ryan of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Marilyn Blackman of Columbus, Ga.; brother, Galen and his wife, Connie, of Milo; brother, Herbert of Milo; many special nieces and nephews. Alasco was predeceased by his parents; brother, Arthur Jr. and his wife, Marian; and sister-in-law, Helen. There will be no visiting hours or funeral at this time.
