WATERVILLE – Alice Simpson Morrison died Thursday Dec. 8, 2005, at Oakgrove Nursing Care Center in Waterville. She was born Jan. 29, 1917, in East Eddington, daughter of David James Simpson and Lena (O’Neil) Simpson. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Louis H. Morrison; two sons, Raymond C. and Edward B; and brothers, Raymond, Harold, Carl and Manley. Alice is survived by sister, Viola of Dexter; brother, John and wife, Alice, of Carmel Valley, Calif.; sister-in-law, Edna Simpson; children and their spouses, Garrett and Thomasine Morrison, Judith and Brian Murphy, Susan and Dean Killam, Brian and Susan Morrison; daughters-in-law, Alma Morrison and Mary Morrison; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way and nieces and nephews. Alice is remembered for the comfortable and welcoming home she provided which encouraged intellectual and artistic pursuits and curiosity and for remembering family birthdays and other special dates. She had many skills and interests such as home making, dress making, music, violin, organ and singing, oil painting, writing poetry, flower arranging, cooking for family and friends and gardening. She was active in gardening clubs, Republican Women’s groups and Town Committees, church women’s groups, fellowship and Bible study groups. Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Redington Funeral Home, 5 Park St., Waterville. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Winslow Congregational Church, 26 Lithgow St., Winslow. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Alice S. Morrison may be made to the University of Maine Foundation, Two Alumni Place, Orono, ME 04469-5792, to be added to the Louis H. Morrison Scholarship Fund.
