LEVANT – Tech. Sgt. Ret. Allan R. Kelley, 72, husband of Marian (Russell) Kelley, died Nov. 3, 2005, after a lengthy struggle with stroke complications. He was born Aug. 29, 1933, in Bass Harbor, the son of Vernon and Alice (Wakefield) Kelley. He entered the U.S. Air Force July 24, 1952 and after basic training was assigned to South Korea, performing duties as a sentry dog handler and assistant gunner on an aerial .50 caliber machine gun. Allan received the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Returning to the states in November 1953 to Randolph AFB, where he served in all areas of law enforcement. From there he was assigned to the 20th TAC Fighter Wing, R.A.F. Wethersfield, England, performing Security Police duties with the F-100 aircraft. In 1962, he was assigned to the 341st Missile Security Police Squadron, Malstron, AFB, where he performed all phases of Security Police duties with the Minute Man No. 1 Missile Program. In 1964, he was reassigned to Beale AFB, Calif., with duties with the KC-135 and B-52 aircraft. In July 1979, Allan joined the Maine Air National Guard and was assigned to the 101st Security Police Force where he served in the position of assistant flight chief and the training monitor for the NCOIC, 101st SPF Color Guard. After retirement from the air national guard, he became a security guard for 10 years at Cape Canaveral, Fla. Allan was a member of the VFW Post No. 4228 of Titusville, Fla.; The American Legion Post No. 0359 of Port St. John, Fla.; and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No.2304 of Indian River, Fla. Allan was an avid singer of karaoke songs, and enjoyed many evenings a week at this activity. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marian are three sons, Richard March of Arlington, Texas, Robert Kelley of Roswell, Ga. and David Kelley of Wellfleet, Mass.; two daughters, Alyce Todd of Westminister, S.C., Cindy Mack of Old Hickory, Tenn.; stepchildren, three sons, David Bouchard of Orland, Dana Bouchard of Charleston and Richard Bouchard of Lake, Mich.; three daughters, Joyce Rollins of Gardiner, Nancy Huckins of Ellsworth and Janet Faust of Abingdon, Md.; several grandchildren; one brother, Everett Kelley of Port St. John, Fla.; a half-sister, Shari Farley of Parkman; a special cousin, Helen Anderson of Bass Harbor; several nieces and nephews; special friends, John and Lucy Modery of Hermon. Allan was predeceased by a brother, Vernon “Max” Kelley. Graveside services and full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport, with the Rev.
