MADAWASKA – Alma Deschaine, 76, went home to God and to join her husband of 49 years, the late Roland Deschaine, April 24, 2007. She was born July 27, 1930, in Frenchville, the daughter of Patrick and Cecile (Lagace) Sirois. Alma is survived by four daughters, Joan Jackson and her husband, James, of Fredericksburg, Va., Diane Hemingway and her husband, William, of Orange, Mass., Charlene Deschaine and her fianc?, Patrick J. Gay, of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Tina Deschaine of Portland; two sons, Robert Deschaine and his wife, Yvette, of Madawaska and Richard Deschaine and his wife, Frances, of Auburn; six sisters, Germaine Ahearne and her husband, Daniel, Therese Bouchard, all of Madawaska, Edna Certo and her husband, Louie, of Waynesboro, Va., Lorraine Rabideau and her husband, Allen, of Farmington, Conn., Wilma Cropley of Scranton, Pa., and Normande Cantarella and her husband, Americo, of Coral Springs, Fla.; nine grandchildren, three great-grand-children; two special nieces, Cecile and Guy St. Jarre of Madawaska and Claudette and Thomas Harmon of Wetster, Mass.; several other nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to being predeceased by her husband, Roland, in 2001, Alma was predeceased by one daughter, Lorraine Deschaine, in 1983; six sisters and two brothers. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. The Deschaine family will receive family and friends 9 a.m. Friday until time of services at the church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery later in the spring.
