EASTPORT – Alvin M. Kinney, 81, passed away Jan. 6, 2004, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer which he faced with courage and humor. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Eastport, the son of Harlon and Lillian (Thompson) Kinney. He attended Eastport schools and at an early age began working in local fish processing plants. He was general manager of Paispearl Products. He also was a part-time Eastport Police Officer and part-time Washington County Deputy Sheriff. He was retired from the Passamaquoddy Water District. He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa and Germany during World War II and he also served during the Korean War. He was an avid sportsman enjoying his many days at “the deep hole” on Cathance Lake and hunting. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Pythias and the Doakes. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara, in 1979; and his brother, Alden “Hoody” in 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Sally and her husband, “Bud” Brown, of Georgetown; his son, Alvin of Eastport; granddaughter, Clara E. Brown of Georgetown; his special companion Roberta “Bobbie” Emery of Eastport; several nieces and nephews, including special nephews, Harlon and David. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Flagg Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, with the Rev. Sheldon Keezer officiating. Interment will be in Bayside Cemetery, Eastport. <
