VEAZIE – Alvin R. ‘Sonny’ Myers Sr., 76, died peacefully June 1, 2005, at his home in Veazie after a lengthy battle with diabetes. He was born July 23, 1928, in Veazie and remained a resident his entire life. He was the son of Alvin and Elvenia (Bell) Myers. Sonny attended Veazie and Bangor schools, he was employed by R.B. Dunning Co., Haynes and Chalmers, N.H. Bragg and Sons and Eastern Auto Co. Sonny was sexton of the Fairview Cemetery in Veazie for many years and was a member of the Veazie Salmon Club. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Flye) Myers of Veazie; two sons, Alvin R. Myers Jr. and his wife, Robyn, of Alton, and Jay-Kevin Myers; two daughters, Jan K. Sockbeson and Becky C. Myers, all of Veazie; a brother, James Magee of Bangor; sisters, Ellen Lane of Veazie, Barbara Goss of Glenburn, and Jacqueline Ellsworth of Brewer; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; an aunt and uncle; cousins, nieces and nephews. Sonny was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Edward McKenna. A graveside service will be held at the Fairview Cemetery Veazie at a later date to be announced by the family.
