FORT KENT – Amelia (Daigle) Daigle, 92, wife of the late LeoKim Daigle, died Jan. 1. 2006, at a Madawaska healthcare facility. She was born Nov. 21, 1913, in New Canada, Plantation, the daughter of Cleophas and Marie (Labbe) Daigle. Amelia taught school for 16 years from 1933-1949 in Fort Kent, Wallagrass, New Canada and Soldier Pond. Then she worked for her husband at the Buck, Oldsmobile dealership until retirement in 1972. She still continued to work at their drive-in theater in Estcourt Station, until they sold it in 1981. She was a life member of the Fort Kent State Teachers College Alumni Association and the Maine State teachers association. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Roger Daigle of West Hartford, Conn., Robert “Bob” Daigle of Fort Kent; two daughters, Nancy Coate of Longwood, Fla. and Peggy Pinette of Old Town; one brother, Adelard Daigle of Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Loretta Beaulieu and Claudette Hogan, both of Juniper, Fla.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994; and one daughter, Shiela Daigle in 1991. Friends may call 11 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery May 11. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the St. Louis Parish renovation fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
