GLENDALE, Ariz. – Ann McQuarrie, 45, died March 31, 2007, in Glendale, Ariz. She was born in Houlton. She devoted her 20-year nursing career to caring for people nearing the end of their lives, working the past eight years for Hospice of the Valley, most recently as a registered nurse team leader in the west office. Ann was celebrated for her compassion and dedication, and her skill educating others about end-of-life care. Horses were another passion; teaching children to ride and bringing people into the horse community. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine and her master’s degree in bioethics from Midwestern University. She is survived by her beloved husband, David; and daughters, Caitlin and Emily; parents, Georgia and Dellie Mailman; mother-in-law, Alice McQuarrie; sisters, Lori Mailman and husband, Russ Holmes, Patti Mailman and husband, Glenn Torrico, and Karen and husband, Tim Gilpin; brother, Jeremy Mailman and wife, Kris Sellberg; many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Best Funeral Services, 9380 West Peoria Ave., Peoria, Ariz. A viewing will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, with services being held 4 p.m. at Community Church of Joy, 21000 North 75th Ave., Glendale, Ariz.
