HOLDEN – Anna C. Nowell, 85, of Holden, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home, Augusta. She was born in Brewer, July 31, 1918, the daughter of Peter and Alice Wedin. Anna was a member of the Holden Congregational Church and the Ladies Home Circle. She worked at Eastern Fine Paper for 20 years and then worked for Lewis Vafiades for 20 years as a legal secretary. Anna was also the first president of the Legal Secretaries Organization of Bangor. Anna is predeceased by her husband, Lynwood L. Nowell, who died in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Trudy A. Glaster and her husband, Richard of Belgrade; three grandchildren, Thomas Glaster and his wife, Erika, of Ipswich, Mass., Michele Lapointe and her husband, Jeff, of Orrington and Wendy Ireland and her husband, Kim, of Gardiner; five great-grandchildren, J.T. and Nate Glaster, Christopher and Joshua Lapointe and Emily A. Mosher; sister-in-law, Madalene Nowell of Dedham; one niece and two nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Holden Congregational Church, Holden. A reception will follow. Those wishing to make memorial donations may do so to the church. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation Services of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
