DOVER-FOXCROFT and LEWISTON – Anna Davis Stone, 87, died Sept. 26, 2007, at St. Marguerite/d’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of A. Emmons and Louise (Sanford) Davis. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1937. She was a member of United Church of Christ, Dover-Foxcroft. She was an avid bridge and duplicate player, and was a founding member of the Mid Maine Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a charter member of the Junior Cosmopolitan Club and a member for many years. Anna was tireless in her efforts to participate and support activities in which her three children were involved. These included making costumes and doing make-up for many school and community theater performances; being a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader; and participating in many school and community fund raisings. Her life-long dream was having all her children graduate from college, a dream that came true. Also, she held many jobs in the business community ending with 10 plus years as office manager for a local dentist. She was predeceased by her husband, A. Garfield Stone, in 2000; a son, Richard D. Stone, in 1992; and an uncle, George Sanford, in 1997. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy S. Page and her husband, Richard, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Sebec Lake; her son, John G. Stone and his wife, Anita, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Leanne Turton and her husband, Greg, of Tampa, Fla., Robert Page and his wife, Deborah, of Portland; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sydney Turton and Molly and Carter Page. Friends are invited to call 1 p.m. until time of funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Interment will be in the family lot at Gray Cemetery.
