GOULDSBORO – Anna Elizabeth Duke, 82, wife of the late George A. Duke, died Jan. 14, 2008, at a Deer Isle nursing facility. She was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Hochstadt, Germany, the daughter of Josef and Franziska (Schweier) Wenzl. Anna was a devoted Christian, she enjoyed reading the Bible and attending church, but was also known by her family and friends to have lived her life based on the word of God. Anna was a caring and devoted part of the Gouldsboro community, donating her time to many local organizations. She also enjoyed making sweaters for her family and friends. She is survived by three children, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three siblings and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Unionville Church of God, Unionville, where a funeral service will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, with the Rev. Art Fairbrother, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Duke Family Cemetery, West Gouldsboro.
