BANGOR – Anna I. Shields, 97, died peacefully June 28, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 21, 1907, in Monroe, a daughter of Lewis Edward Jordan and Addie Mildred (Seger) Jordan Clay. Anna was a loving and caring mother and enjoyed the times that her three boys were together. She was a hard worker and was employed at various restaurants and facilities in the Bangor area as a waitress and cook. She always had a great sense of humor. Anna loved all animals and cats in particular. Anna is survived by three sons, Douglas A. Shields and his wife, Betty, of Sacremento, Calif., Richard L. Shields of Hudson and Paul D. Shields and his wife, Evelyn, of Stetson; a sister, Ruth Decesere of Bangor; a special nephew, Chuck Seger and his wife, Jan; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Douglas “Bub” Shields, a daughter-in-law, Joanne (Brown) Shields; six sisters, Evelyn McCloud, Ethel Richards, LaVaughn “Peggy” Bridgham, Ruby Meservey, Pauline Lewis, and Helen Jordan; three brothers, Leroy Jordan, Richard Jordan, and Clarence Amon Clay. A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery with Pastor Garnett Chute, Pastor of the Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Please arrive at the Superintendent’s Lodge, State Street entrance, at 12:45 p.m. Immediately following the graveside service all are invited to the Hermon Baptist Church for continued fellowship and a light luncheon.
