BUCKSPORT – Anna Marie (Morrison) Meade, 78, the wife of the late Kenneth Meade Sr., died March 28, 2005, at a Penobscot nursing facility. She was born March 25, 1927, in Milford, the daughter of Frederick and Millicent (Tozier) Morrison. Anna graduated from Bucksport High School in 1945 and married Ken Dec. 31, 1945, in Bucksport. She worked as a waitress for many years in various local restaurants including Priscilla’s, Pop Hill’s, Millett’s, The Alamo, Captain John’s, and the Jed Prouty. She retired from Bucksport High School in 1986 after working in the school cafeteria. She was a member of the Elm St. Congregational Church where she was very active in the choir, the Ladies Guild, and the Diaconate. She was a member of the Felicity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 195, the Ramassoc Chapter of DAR and served for many years as the Maine State Marshal for the Maine SODAR. She loved to play bingo, enjoyed music, playing the piano, trout fishing, and spending time at the family camp in Township 30. First and foremost family was precious to Anna and her children and grandchildren will fondly remember the many Sunday dinners at her home. Anna is survived by four children, Michael Meade and wife, Donna, of Bucksport, Martha Gallant and partner, Betty, of Richmond, Joseph Meade and wife, Becky, of Orland, Patricia Gray and husband, Michael, of Bucksport; grandchildren, Michelle and Shawn, Renee’ and Jason, Kelly and Kevin, Sarabi and Ortiz, Shawn and Charlie, Anna and Mike, Mary and Jonah, Jephtha, Justin and Nicole, Jairus, Thomas, Harmony, Jake, and Ozzie; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Nye, Zac, Joey, Alyssa, Mikaela, Maryah Ann, Devin Kenneth, C.J., Hunter Riley, Tristan Cole, Brody, Parker, and Madisan; sister, Peggy Wescott; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Meade Sr.; son, Larry Meade; seven siblings, Velma, Ralph, Alice, Ethel, Edward, Frank, and Betty. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Elm St. Congregational Church, Bucksport, with the Rev. Linda Smith and Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Spring Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport. After the service, refreshments supplied by the Elm St. Church Ladies Guild, will be enjoyed in Brown Hall. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Northern Bay Living Center and the Penobscot Nursing Home for Anna’s care.
