INDIAN TOWNSHIP – Anna T. Harnois, 71, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, surrounded by her family. Anna was born Sept. 10, 1936, at Peter Dana Point, daughter of the late Horace and Mary (Tomah) Lola. Anna dedicated her life to her family and community. She taught the Passamaquoddy language at Indian Township School for 14 years, serving her community as a council member, school board member and housing commissioner. She was also a strong advocate for and fought for the Land Claims Settlement Act. She always had her strongest connection to the community through her teachings. She watched as the children of the community grew into adults. Each had a little piece of her because she gave a piece of herself to them in her teaching. Many people will have the honor to carry her memory with them through life. She will be greatly missed by everyone, but her memory will live on. Anna was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Albert Harnois Sr.; a son, Leon Harnois; and many brothers and sisters, including three special sisters, Philomene Dana, Lucille Moore and Mary Lou Tomah. Surviving are seven children, Audrey Harnois, Stanley Harnois Sr. and his wife, Marie, Albert Harnois Jr. and his wife, Lisa, William Harnois, Lisa Cox and special son-in-law, Justin, Lewey Harnois Sr. and D.
