ORONO – Anne (McSherry) McAleer, 77, died June 27, 2004, at home. Although she was born in Jersey City, N.J., Anne was raised in New York City and was a real “City Girl.” She was always a pillar of strength, dignity, integrity and caring. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick G. McAleer; two sons, John F. McAleer and Frederick McAleer; and by a brother, John “Jack” McSherry who was killed landing at Anzio at age 19. Surviving are one son, Michael and his wife, Cynthia McAleer, and their three children, Patrick, Jack, and Molly McAleer, all of Orono; three additional grandchildren from her son John, Christopher, Michael and Brian McAleer; and one great-grandson, Dylan, all of Massachusetts. Anne had a special place in her heart for her many nephews and nieces as well as their children. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, (Newman Center), College Ave., Orono, with the Rev. Joseph Koury, pastor, celebrant. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Gifts in memory of Anne may be sent to New Hope Hospice, P.O.
