EAST MILLINOCKET – Anne “Maude” MacDonald Gallant, 94, died Feb. 1, 2005 at her home after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 11, 1910, in East Millinocket in the house next door to her home, the fifth child of John and Mary (Sullivan) MacDonald. She was a 1929 graduate of Schenck High School and a graduate of the Chandler School of Business in Boston. She worked as a clerk at the East Millinocket Post Office for many years, retiring in 1972. Maude was the oldest living woman born and residing in East Millinocket. She married Alfred Gallant Sept. 6, 1939. Maude was a faithful communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was a charter member of St. Anne’s Circle Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed being in the many fashion shows and skits the Daughters put on. She enjoyed camping and traveling to the different parts of the country and world. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Maude is survived by her daughters, Anne Donovan of Medway, Mary “Mae” Gallant of East Millinocket, Rita Morneault and her husband, Remi, of Hampden; her sons, Alfred and his wife, Dianne, of Milford, Daniel and his wife, Bonnie, of Woodville, and John and his wife, Brenda, of Medway; her grandchildren, Tim and Sue Donovan, Daniel Morneault, Mary Nickerson, Teresa Howe, Cathy Adamo, Matt, Josh, and Rob Gallant, Brian Gallant, Amy Pelkey, Greg Gallant, Dyana Gallant; and stepgrandsons, Michael and Stephen Hildreth, and Ryan Pelkey; her great-grandchildren, Joan, Mark, Michelle, Hannah, Jonathan, Catherine, J.J, Tori, Logan, Andrew, Tommy, Ashley, and Olivia; her special sister, Kathleen Crawford of East Millinocket; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, Feb. 19, 1992, by her son, Leonard, in 1950, her parents, her siblings, Marie Lyons, Leonard, John, and Ronald, Nellie Purcell, Everett, Lucille St. Peter, and Llewellyn. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket, where the St. Anne Circle Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Millinocket.
