WEST GARDINER – Annett Evelyn Dow Jamison went home to be with her Lord Sept. 27, 2007. Through six years of ill health, her spirit and courage were an inspiration. Born Oct. 18, 1928, in Gardiner, Annett was the daughter of Leland and Dorothy Brown Dow. She attended schools in West Gardiner and Gardiner, graduating from Gardiner High School in 1946, valedictorian of her class. She married the love of her life, Bernard F. Jamison, Oct. 11, 1949, at Winter Street Baptist Church. They settled in West Gardiner. Annett worked at Depositor’s Trust from 1956 to 1966, and for the state of Maine from 1966 until her retirement in 1990. She was a conscientious and dedicated employee who was proud of her service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Gardiner for more than 50 years. A loving wife and devoted mother, Annett’s greatest joy was her family. She loved to cook, play games, especially cribbage and Scrabble, and travel. Some of her happiest times, though, were spent at camp, most often surrounded by family and friends. Annett was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Freda Markham. She is survived by her husband of 58 years; and her six children, Greg and his wife, Betty, of Holden, Judy of West Gardiner, Deborah and Allan Staples of Readfield, Daniel and his wife, Johnna, of Gardiner, Nancy and Mike Maschino of Gardiner, Susan and Mike Bolduc of West Gardiner; 14 grandchildren, Ross, Seth, Shawn, Liza, Lara, Jala, Johnna, Michael, Heather, Jesse, Brianna, Zachary, Cameron and Alyssa; and 11 great-grandchildren. Annett also leaves brothers, Charles, Gerald and Dwight Dow; sisters, Sylvia Fellows and Linda Opp; a special aunt and uncle, Keith and Barbara Dow; a special aunt, Muriel Nelson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church, Hallowell-Litchfield Road, West Gardiner. Burial will be held after at Fairbanks Cemetery, West Gardiner.
