FRANKLIN – Annie M. Smith, 84, wife of the late Chester K. Smith, died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Brownsburg, Quebec, the daughter of Frank Herrick and Annie (Garland) Kemp. Annie was a member of Schoodic Grange No. 420, Green Mountain Pomona No. 26 and the State and National Grange. She was also a member of the Franklin Historical Society, the Franklin Methodist Church, the Women’s Society, and the Franklin Garden Society. Annie is survived by two sons, John A. Smith of Franklin and Richard J. Smith and his companion, Freda, of Exeter; five grandchildren, Dennis G. Smith, Dianna M. Hodgson and her husband, James, Rick Smith and his wife, Martha, of Orland, Martin Waddell of Franklin and Crystal R. Waddell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Jasemine Hodgson, Benjamin Badger, Connor Smith and Kadence Sanborn; a brother, Albert S. Herrick and his wife, Hildred, of Lamoine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, Annie was predeceased by a sister, Muriel Wilbur; a brother, Kenneth Kemp; and daughter-in-law, Cecilia Smith. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Lamoine, located behind Lamoine Baptist Church.
