BANGOR – Annie Olive (Doherty) Blay, 86, passed away April 12, 2005, at Eastside Rehabilitation and Living Center, where she lived for the past two years. She was born Nov. 22, 1918, and raised in Rumford, by Mary and Peter Doherty. She graduated from Stephens High School. She worked at the Rumford Paper Mill where she met and later married Elbridge “AI” Blay and had five daughters. Annie was the last of eight siblings. She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Coffin and husband, Gary, of Mexico, Jane Blay of Dover-Foxcroft, Martha Russell and husband, John, of Carmel, Mary Blay and her lifelong partner, Joseph Russell, of Augusta; five grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; including a special niece Betty Bavineau. She was predeceased by her husband, Elbridge Earl Blay and second child, Theresa. Visiting hours will be from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday, April 15 at S.G. Thibault Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mexico. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in the spring.
