ETNA – Annie (Otis) Marcho, 95, passed away May 29, 2004, at her home of 60 years, with her daughters and four granddaughters at her side. She was born Dec. 5, 1908, in Carmel, the daughter of Benjamin and Lydia (Blackden) Otis. Annie attended Farmington Normal School. She started teaching school in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 17. Annie taught for 40 years in the Carmel, Etna, Dixmont, and Newburgh area and retired in 1970. She is survived by two daughters, Freda and her husband, David O’Donald, Deanna Marcho; 11 grandchildren, Richard and Kasha Simpson, Glenn and Betty Simpson, Debra Russell, Diana Matson, Ray and Susan Johnson, Cindy and Joe Burke, Susan and Joe Souza, Rick and Renee’ O’Donald, Valerie and Dana Fogg, Sarah and Matt Dingle, Tim and Nyree O’Donald; 20 great-grandchildren, Wyman Simpson, Melissa and Ryan Dempsey, Christy and Ernie Acosta, Erica Russell, Paul Russell, Emily Johnson, Ryan and Angela Matson, Tommy Matson, Nicole Matson, Karen and David Sands, JD and Trish Burke, Laurie and Adam Accetta, Airman First class Jaime Souza, Nicholas Souza, Josh, and Caleb O’Donald, Maxwell Dingle, David and Megan O’Donald, Justin Brown; nine great-great-grandchildren; Connor, Logan, and Kylie Dempsey, Asianna Acosta, Cody Matson, Troy Sands, Brady and Jack Burke, Nicholas Accetta; two nieces, Barbara Marcho and Donese Oliver; and one cousin, Ruth Remick; her tea time buddies, Martha and Jeanne. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd W. Marcho; one son, Lloyd R. Marcho; one daughter, Sally Johnson; and one brother, Eugene Otis. The family would like to thank Hospice of Eastern Maine for all there care and support. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson, Chaplain of Husson College, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the services Wednesday at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
