ELLSWORTH – Anthony Joseph “Tony” Giunta, 63, died May 17, 2008, at his home. He was born July 18, 1944, in Providence, R.I., the son of Salvatore and Yole (Carnevale) Giunta. Tony graduated in 1966 from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in business. He then went on to law school and graduated in 1969 from Suffolk Law School, Boston. Tony was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar in 1969 and the Maine Bar in 1974. Tony served in the U.S. Army JAGC from 1970 to 1974. Upon moving to Ellsworth in 1974, Tony opened his law practice. He had been a past president of Hancock County Bar Association, a past member of the Ellsworth Planning Board and Public Administrator of Hancock County. While he loved hunting, fishing and spending time at camp on Molasses Pond, his passion was the practice of law. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen (Prenda) Giunta of Ellsworth; a sister, Norma G. Fisher; stepmother, Theresa Giunta; mother-in-law, Marjorie Prenda; sister-in-law, Evelyn Shaver and family; and brother-in-law, David Prenda and family, all of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Emilia; brother-in-law, Charles Fisher; and father-in-law, Manuel Prenda. A special thanks goes to all his health care providers. According to Tony’s wishes, there will be no service. A celebration of his life will be held 4-6 p.m. on his birthday, Friday, July 18, at his home, 28 Turnbull Way, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, those who desire to recognize Tony’s memory are asked to give memorial contributions to Mary Dow Center for Cancer Care, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
