BANGOR and MILLINOCKET Antoine J. Ethier, 79, died Wed-nesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born May 3, 1928, at Rouses Point, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Matilda (Ducett) Ethier. Tony was a veteran of the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Medal of Honor. After the war, he worked at Great Northern Paper, Millinocket, for 30 years, retiring in the early 1990’s. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 4154 and American Legion Post No. 80, both in Millinocket. Tony enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing in the Greater Katahdin Region. He is survived by four stepchildren, Phyllis Read and her companion, Dwain Quinn, of Brewer, David Larlee and his wife, Ramona, of Milford, Eugene Larlee and his wife, Rita, of Millinocket, and Mary Shedd and her husband, Derward, of Millinocket; two brothers, Nedard Ethier and Leo Ethier; three sisters, Lena LaBonte, Rose Hach, and Mary Ann Stewart, all of New York; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was predeceased by his wife, Vera B. (Ferris) Ethier, in 2003. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Tri-Town Baptist Church, 8 Cone St., East Millinocket, with Pastor Dave Chicoine officiating. Military honors will be at the church.
