MILLINOCKET – Arlene A. Burke, 73, died at a local hospital Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004. She was born April 22, 1930, in Drew Plantation, the daughter of Edward and Norma (Chambers) Dishon. Arlene was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and a member of Little Flower Circle No. 392, Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed crafts and, at one time, taught ceramics at her home. She was a member of the AARP, a 43- year member of American Legion Post No. 80, Auxiliary, and made rosary beads with Our Lady’s Rosary Makers. Arlene enjoyed beano and playing cards, but most of all, she dearly loved children. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William P. Burke Jr.; one daughter, Susan and husband, Arthur York; two sons, William P. Burke III, and Michael Burke and fianc‚e, Jean Kimball, all of Millinocket; three grandchildren, William Burke IV, Rachael Jandreau, and John Burke; three great-grandchildren, Bradley Sabine, Tristan Burke, and Rebecca Jandreau; two brothers, Alton Dishon and Robert Dishon, both of East Millinocket; she also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Roy Burke; a grandson, Thomas York; two brothers, Conrad and Edward; and a sister, Gladys Austin. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
