NEWPORT and HAMLET, N.C. – Arlene M. Creech, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, in Hamlet, N.C. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116: 15. She was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Farr) Mosley. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Hamlet, the Woman’s Missionary Union, a choir member, Sunday school teacher and church secretary. She was also a retired Southern Baptist Home Missionary, serving in Caribou for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. David E. Creech Sr.; and a daughter, Jacqueline M. Havens, both of Hamlet; a son, David E. Creech Jr., and his wife, Michelle, of Kennebunk; a brother, Phillip, and his wife, Betty Mosley, of Dexter; two sisters, Jeanette Woodard of Newport, and Marilyn Cox of Augusta; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Soucie; and a brother, Eugene Mosley. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, with the Rev. William Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
