STUART, Fla. – Arline G. Parker, 94, passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2004, at Parkway Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stuart, Fla. Arline was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Orrington, a daughter or Wallace and Christine Whelden Puffer. She attended schools in Brewer and moved to Florida in 1951. She retired in 1972 from the U.S. Postal Service. She had worked in post offices in Miami Shores and Little River and was the postmaster in Bayside for many summers in the 1950s and ’60s. Arline was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart where she was active in the Naomi Circle and XYZ. She was an avid bridge player and continued this activity until she became ill in August of 2003. Arline leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Pauline Parker of Stuart; two nephews, Bruce Arnold of Stratton and Stanley Arnold or Stuart and Scarborough; several cousins including June Achorn and family of Brewer and Elaine Blethen and family, also of Brewer. She was predeceased by her husband, Lowell Parker and a sister, Helen Puffer Arnold. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie, Inc., 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997 or to the building fund of First Methodist Church of Stuart. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Forest Hills Funeral Home, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990.
